Announcement:
Back in 2015 I could have only imagined where my little slow-burn art and design company would go. By 2018 I resigned from teaching and took on the challenge of self-employment. For two years I watched my clientele grow, establishing friendships that will last beyond this season.
Like many others, the uncertainty of 2020 and the years that followed slowly chipped away at the business I’d worked so hard to grow.
In the midst of one of the most intense years in recent American history, I was diagnosed with MS (multiple sclerosis). This came as a result of six months of pain, confusion, and fear of what my body was doing. I’d been living with this chronic illness for a decade and didn’t know. It was this recent relapse that caused a barrage of symptoms that would change the course of my life forever.
Since, I’ve worked diligently with occupational therapy, physical therapy, speech therapy to learn adaptations to cope with my new mind and body. During this time I’ve attempted to rebuild what the apocalypse and my body had taken from me. The cost of which has been dear.
Due to these and a number of other personal reasons, I am sad to announce my leave of absence from RMGraphX. The current plan is to sabbatical until August 1st, 2023 at which time I will reevaluate and announce my intentions--should I stay or should I go?
What now? Over the following year I will be making a number of major changes for myself, my body, and my career. Refocusing on writing—which is where my passion has always known home—and simplifying my days to better maintain my health and nourish my dearest relationships.
You will see much more from R.M. Gilmore in the coming year. And, because of who I am as a person, my Etsy shop will remain active as more creations formulate at my leisure.
Please know this decision was not made lightly. It has been a few months in the making and came close to not happening at all.
I want to thank all who have supported and continue to support me and my craft. You’ve made the past 7 years everything I could have hoped.
Make sure to follow @itsthermg on Instagram (I am no longer active on Facebook) that will be the central hub for everything.
If you’re looking for publishing help and promotion services I am referring all current and potential clients to Writer’s Little Helper. Contact her today to get started.
Upward and onward.
